Erik Thorvaldsson, also known as Erik the Red (ir is believed he was called like that for being a redhead), was a Norse explorer, and it is said that he founded the first settlement in Greenland. He he was born in Norway, and was the son of Thorvald Asvaldsson (hence the name Erik Thorvaldsson).
