I would have to say the south was very mad at Lincoln for the civil war because they wanted to keep their slaves.

Even now days their are a lot of racist southerner's ,(I've been to Mississippi, it's not nice) southerner's had a lot of cotton farms because the hot southern sun was perfect for growing cotton plants. The south wanted to keep their slaves so that they could have cheap labor, and somebody that they could work to the death and not worry about any criminal charges.
