Let us assume the original cost price of each jacket = $x

So, the discounted price of each jacket = $( x - 8)

Now, price of 6 discounted jacket = 6 x ( The price of 1 discounted jacket)

= 6 (x -8) = (6x - 48)

And, price of 4 original jacket = 4 x ( The original price of 1 jacket)

= 4 (x) = 4x

Now, according to the question:

Cost of 4 original jackets = Cost of 6 discounted jackets + 7

4x = (6x - 48) + 7

or, 4x - 6x = - 48 + 7

or, - 2 x = - 4 1

or, x = 20 . 5

Hence, the original cost of 1 jacket is $20.5
