The oxidation state of sodium is +1 it loses its one valance electron and get complete octet while nitrogen have five valance electrons it require three more electron to gain stability.

When it react with sodium it needed three electron that's why three sodium atom are react with one nitrogen atom to make the compound overall neutral.

6Na + N₂ → 2Na₃N

however this compound us unstable and decompose to gives nitrogen and sodium.
