You can go ahead and combine the two x’s so you have 2x. So our equation now looks like:
2x + 2 ÷ 4 = 189
Divide first.
2 ÷ 4 = .5

.5 - 189.5 = 189
Divide by two to isolate the variable.
2x ÷ 189 = 94.5
so X =94.5
check your answer by plugging in the final number.
