The spontaneous formation of micelles, liposomes, and phospholipid bilayers does not require the input of energy even though entropy decreases. What does this suggest about the stability of lipids in aqueous solutions compared to their stability in micelles, liposomes, and phospholipid bilayers?

Answer & explanation:

Lipids have a hydrophilic head and a hydrophobic tail. Meaning that one part of them will tend to avoid contact with water. This nature will lead them to form any type of structure that can keep the tails out of touch with the water molecules when in aqueous solutions. Micelles, liposomes, and bilayers do provide the lipids this "comfort" and they're the best energetically arrangements.
