Answer: x = -1.4; y = -1.2

Explanation:

y = -2x - 4

y = 3x + 3

Substitute

3x + 3 = -2x - 4

Add 2x to both sides

5x + 3 = -4

Subtract 3 from both sides

5x = -7

Divide both sides by 5

x = -1.4

y = -2x - 4

Substitute -1.4 for x

y = -2 (-1.4) - 4

y = 2.8 - 4

y = -1.2
