Answer:

The President of India is the head of state and first citizen of India, and also the supreme commander of the Indian armed forces. The role of the president is mainly ceremonial and the real executive power lies with the Council of Ministers, headed by the Prime Minister.

The president is elected by the previously elected members of the Vidhan Sabhas (lower houses of the states), the Lok Sabha (lower house) and the Rajya Sabha (upper house), and serves for a period of five years, although a president may be eligible for re-election set. The presidential election takes place through a secret vote.

The current president is Ram Nath Kovind. He was chosen on July 17, 2017 and was sworn in on July 25, 2017.
