In 1814 the congress awarded the sum of 5 million from the proceeds of land sales in the Mississippi Territory to the claimants.

Explanation:

In the land fraud of Georgia, Yazoo scheme came into existence (1795) in which Georgia legislators bribed to sell most of the land that is making up the state of Mississippi to land companies for the amount of $500000 that was much lower than its market value. It aroused anger in the state.

It resulted in a high turnover of legislators’ election in 1786. The legislators who were newly elected rescinded the act and returned the money. In the meantime, the land was resold to a third party but refused the money of the state and the claim was maintained to the territory. The land dispute continued in the 1800's .
