Why was Galileo Galilei punished by the Roman Catholic
Church for his beliefs?​

Answer:

Essentially, the main reason was his idea in a heliocentric universe, that the earth revolved around the sun. This was deemed unsuitable by the Catholic Church and deemed his beliefs as heretical. Heliocentric books were banned and Galileo was ordered to refrain from holding, teaching or defending heliocentric ideas.
