The main reason the Friars and Jesuits wanted to go to the colonies in the Americas to convert the Native people to Catholicism. Friars and Jesuits were groups of people who heavily believed in Catholicism and wanted to convert as many people as possible to this religion. They thought the Native Americans would be a prime target as they were more spiritual than religious and thought they would be easily swayed into religion.
