Theodore Roosevelt, had an expansionist view:whatever the president does is allowed unless expressly prohibited by the constitution or by laws passed by the congress. William Howard Taft, on the other hand, embodies a ‘strict constructionist’ model of the presidency. Under this presidential style, unless the constitution or congress explicitly grants a certain power, the president does not have the right to act. While Roosevelt expanded federal power in several areas, Taft felt that many of these actions represented legal expansions. Taft was more inclined to see the facts of the situation and make decisions based on evidence. Roosevelt, on the other hand, was more inclined to do what he thought was right.
