Therefore, the equation of the line parallel to
$ ax + by + c_1 = 0$ would be ax + by + c₂ = 0.

The equation of the line parallel to
$ y = x - 3 $ should be equal to

x - y + c = 0.

Since, a point intersecting the line is given this means that the line passes through this point. This can be used to determine the value of c.

3 -(-2) + c = -5 + c = 0

⇒ c = - 5.

Substituting we get: x - y - 5 = 0

⇒ y = x - 5 is the required equation of the line.
