Why is -x/y equivalent to x/-y? Explain

Answer:

They both have the same sign convention.

Explanation:

-x/y is ≡ to x/-y

because irregardless of which variable having the negative sign it still gives the same answer. e.g

let x = 2, y = 4

-2/4 = -0.5 and 2/-4 = -0.5
