Karl Marx was a German philosopher, his ideas were mainly on materialism. He believed that many things like religion, morality, and social structures are all rooted in economics. Unlike the Marxian conception, socialism retained commodity exchange (markets) for labour and the means of production seeking to perfect the market process.
