Area of the wall excluding window = Area of the complete wall - (324 sq inches)

Also, given that the window is in the shape of a square,

so all sides of the windows = 18 inches.

AREA OF A SQUARE = SIDE X SIDE

⇒ Here,the area of the window = 18 inches x 18 inches

= 324 sq. inches

Hence, the area of the cut out window = 324 sq. inches.

So, the area of the wall excluding window = Area of the wall - Area of the cutout window

or, Area of the wall excluding window = Area of the complete wall - (324 sq inches)
