Step by step:
In order to find what x and y equal we can use elimination.
First let’s line up both equations above eachother with the y over the other y. We also have to get the x in the second equation onto the other side.
y + 2x = -32
y - x = 6
now since we already have y and y we need to get one of them negative. We can do that by multiplying the whole top equation by -1.
That gives us -y -2x = 32
Next let’s combine the equations.
That gives us -3x = 38
Let’s divide all by -3 so we get
x = 12 2/3
we can plug it in to the first equation and solve for y
that gives us
y = -57 1/3
i’m not 100% about this one so i’m sorry if i messed up.
Hope this helped at least a bit!
