how can you tell wether to set 180 equal to a equation or to not? In geometry, this is set on a transversal and trying to find the value of x but i don't know when to set the equation equal to 180 or to set it as another number given

it depends on what x stands for if x is to help find an angle of a triangle, with the help of other angles you will find it
ex: x + 60 + 60 = 180
