For that reason, Mexico enacted a law to promote immigration to Texas regardless ethnical background or religion. Stephen Austin, a colonist born in Virginia, got a concession to colonize in Texas. Many colonists came specially from the United States which increased tension with Native-Americans and Mexicans. These tensions led to a revolt and the Texas Revolution in 1835.
