The process of making mRNA from DNA is called transcription. this process occurs in the nucleus. and the mRNA directs the synthesis of proteins, and this occurs in the cytoplasm. the mRNA which is formed in the nucleus is transported out of the nucleus and into the cytoplasm where it then attaches to the free ribosomes.
