There are 37 ants, 39 worms, 12 moths, and 11 beetles living in a big garden. Find the sum. Explain your work.

Answer: 99 insects altogether.

Explanation:

Adding two numbers add a time is easiest, rather than adding all four numbers together.

First, add 37 + 39 =. 76

add 12 to that sum, which equals 88.

76+12=88

to that sum, add the final number, 11.

88+11=99

so there are 99 bugs altogether.
