Please help! US Government!

Washington died in 1799. Had he campaigned for and won re-election in 1776, he might have died in office. How might this possible event have affected the Office of the Presidency?

Power would have been passed to the Vice President.

According to the Presidential Succession Act, if a President dies in office, then the Vice President takes the oath of office.
