Charles-Louis de Secondat, Baron de La Brède et de Montesquieu, was a well-known French philosopher in the early 1800s. Baron de Montesquieu wasn't directly involved in the development of the United States Constitution, but his views on government were integral in providing the framework for the separation of powers.
