Based on what I know, HIV is a human immunodeficiency virus meaning that although it is a sexually transmitted disease, it is still a virus. Based on genetic mutation or a trait that is passed down from a parent gene, the first person may have a less serious case of HIV and then passed down to their mate and to their offspring.
