Why use percentages in statistics

Say you have 20,000 people in a town. 2000 were Christians (like me). Show the 2000 Christians as a percentage of the 20,000 people.

2000/20,000= 0.1

=>0.1*100=10.

Answer is 10%.

There are three main ways in which percentages are frequently used: to enable data with different sample sizes or totals to be compared; to quantify the amount of change over time; to express an increase or reduction relative to initial size.
