Why are people made of trillions of small cells instead of just a few large cells?

Answer:

Being comprised of multiple cells allows better functioning and information to travel faster(too large of a cell compromises this). In our body, our organs that allow us to perform certain functions. For example, our arm can do many things. Inside our arm we have different tissues/bones that are comprised of tiny cells. If we had one large cell for each of these, imagine what would happen if we were injured on our arms. It would take a massive amount of effort to perform mitosis and other celluar functions. Thus, having individual cells working together is much more effective.
