Around election time, some people will say that a vote for a third party is a “throw away vote”. why might this be a prevalent belief? Do you think this is an accurate belief? Why or why not?

A vote for a third party is called a throw away vote because in most cases, out of the parties participating in an electoral process, two parties are usually the bigger ones, and the smaller third party rarely gets any votes, and rarely wins a seat or an election.
