Omar has $84 and Calina has $12. How much money must Omar give to Calina so that Calina will have three times as much as Omar?

b. In your opinion, is this problem easier to solve using an equation or using a tape diagram? Why?

a)$60

Explanation:

Omar has $84 and Calina has $12.

According to question

let omar gave $ x sum money to calina

A) 3(84-x) = 12+x

252-3x= 12+x

252-12= 4x

240x=4x

⇒ x= $60

b)in my opinion this problem is easier to solve using an equation than by the tape diagram because of very easy calculation and can avoid the tedious work of drawing tape diagram.
