open the bracket

-18x² - 4x - 9x - 2

-18x²-13x-2

(18x²+9x)(+4x+2)

factorise

9x(2x+1) +2(2x+1)

(9x+2)(2x+1)

:separate the bracket and equate to 0

9x+2=0

collect like terms

9x= -2

divide through by 9

x= -2/9

or

4x = -2

divide through by 4

x = -2/4

: x = -0.5

answer = -0.5 or -2/9
