If f ( x ) = log 3 x , find f - 1 ( x ).

f - 1 ( x ) = 3 x
f - 1 ( x ) = x 3
f - 1 ( x ) = 3 y

Answer:

The first step is to let f(x) = y

therefore y = Log into base 3 of x

i.e x = 3^y, therefore to find f^-1(x) just interchange the variable

i.e f^-1(x) = 3^x
