The mini movie theater had 8 rows of seats and 50 seats total. Each row had the same number of seats EXCEPT the front row, which had more. How many seats were in each of the other 7 rows?

Answer:

6 seats in the other 7 rows.

Explanation:

7x + y = 50 where y is the number of seats in the front row and x is the number in the last 7 rows.. We have to fit whole numbers to x and y to make a total of 50.

x cannot be 7 as 7*7 is 49 which only leaves 1 for the front row.

Try x = 6:-

7*6 = 42 which leaves 8 seats in the front row.
