Let the weight of pineapple be x grams and weight of orange by y grams.

Now, weight of a pineapple = 7 (weight of an orange)

∴ x = 7y

Also, x = y + 870 (∵ pineapple weighs 870 more than pineapple)

Substituting the value of x in above equation,

7y = y + 870

7y - y = 870

6y = 870

y = 870/6 = 145

Weight of an orange = 145 grams

Weight of pineapple = 7 × 145 = 1015 grams

Total weights for the orange and pineapple = 145 + 1015 = 1160 grams.
