Imagine your local school board is debating whether or not to include Of Mice and Men in its high school English curriculum and libraries because of its coarse and potentially racist language. In the discussion, make a case either for or against its inclusion. Or, in other words, should it be required reading in a high school curriculum?

Here’s my answer to the prompt hope this helps:

Yes, the school board should consider including Mice and Men in its high school curriculum because it is important for students to understand the importance of the message the book is trying to convey. If it is equally important to learn about the struggles of the Great Depression then why not read John Steinbeck’s Mice and Men to further that learning.
