we set each equation equal since Rachel has 200 but spends 25 each week we set 200 - 25x (x being the number if weeks) equal to Roy saving $15 per week

200 -25x =15x

+25x +25x add 25x to both sides to isolate the variable

200= 40x

200/40 = 40x/40 divide both sides by 40 to get x by itself

5=x ( previously mentioned x is the number of weeks) therefore they will have either same amount of money after 5 weeks
