The Bacon's Rebellion took place between 1676-77 and was a violent uprising against the rulers of the colonies. Thousands of locals from Virginia took part in the protest which culminated in the burning of Jamestown. Order took a couple of years to restore thanks to the help of English soldiers who arrived to control the situation.

It was the first sign of a disenfranchised local population who had the power and the will to stand up the government and cause major havoc. We eventually saw a similar uprising which resulted in the American revolutionary war.
