First, we need to get rid of the 3 by subtracting it by 3. We need to do the same to the number on the other side.

-6x + 3 = 45

-3 - 3

-6x = 42

Then, to iolate the x, we need to divide -6 by itself to cancel the number out and get x alone. We also need to divide 42 by -6 as well.


(-6x)/(-6) = (42)/(-6)

42 divided by -6 is -7.


x=-7
