Look at the picture. Where does the line touch that has an exact point? It is the points (1,3) and (2,6). Now do the slope form y=mx+b. Let’s use the point (1,3). So when we graph it, it’s 3=m(1)+0. (m is slope) (b is y-intercept). Now look at the graph again. Move up 3 units, and right 2. This will get you to the other point, which is (2,6). Therefore the slope of the line is 3/2.

The way you can calculate the slope from this graph is by finding two different points and seeing how much it increases or decreases.

In this case you can see that for 1 pound of grapes it costs exactly 3 dollars.

You can also see that for 2 pounds of grapes it costs 6 dollars.

What you then can do is count the y increase (price increase) and the x increase (grape weight increase) and write it in slope form with the rise over the run.

Rise = y increase

Run = x increase

In this case the y increase is 3 dollars per pound of grapes.
