Oedipus' brother Creon returns from the Oracle at Delphi, Oedipus sent him there for guidance of what to do about the illness in the city of Thebes. The Oracle told Creon that the reason behind the illness was because the unknown murderer of the previous ruler of Thebes. In order for Oedipus to save the people in Thebes he must find the murderer and punish him for what he did, which to Oedipus vows to do to save his people.
