Conflict in fiction is a disagreement between two sides.

Examples of conflict include external conflict and internal conflict. External conflict could be "man vs. man," in which two characters fight, or "man vs. nature," where a character has to survive a disaster, or "man vs. society," where a character disagrees with the government.

Internal conflict is "man vs. self," where the character has a tough time making a decision.
