Women formed aid societies to help both Union and Confederate soldiers. They planted gardens; canned food; cooked; sewed uniforms, blankets, and socks; and did laundry for the troops.

Women started to take over men’s jobs and that is when Rosie the riveter came into place ( Rosie the riveter is the woman that is flexing her arm muscles and she has a red bandanna in her hair with a blue shirt on)
