First of all ignore the dollar sign. It’s irrelevant to the problem and we aren’t dealing with decimals. First of all, we know that Hector has $8 more than Tami and Joe has $4 more than Hector so first we need to find how much money Hector has. Since Hector has $8 more than Tami and we know that Tami has $x we $x+$8 is Hectors amount of money. Since Joe has $4 more than Hector and we know Hectors money is $x + $8 Joe’s money is ($x+$8) + $4.
