What was the effect of Cabeza de Vaca and his book Relación on Spanish exploration? How is it still useful today?

Cabeza de Vaca is the first Spanish voyager to travel North America. He served to be the Spanish soldier for Twenty years. He stated his voyage to North America with around 300 men but unfortunately a hurricane hit that tossed the boat down.

He again built a barge with horses hide and nails and a shipwreck resulted in which 80 soldiers died and De Vaca was the lone survivor, who was in Galveston Island. He remained in there for around six years along with the Native Americans who were compassionate and gave food supplies.

He wrote the book called La Relacion, in which he narrated all his experiences and reported his narration to the king. This story served to be a great inspiration for other explorers in finding Texas.
