The great awakening reverse this processAnd increased the degree to which people felt that religion was important in their lives

For starters, it revitalized religion as I stated earlier. Preachers would go out and preach almost everywhere, encouraging people to follow the word of God as they desired too.

It also was responsible for creating a lot of colleges. Colleges created during this time were built to train a new ‘enlightened’ generation.

The teachings of the Great Awakening also influenced many politicians who grew up during the era. Thomas Jefferson is an example that comes to mind.
