Chandra Gupta Maurya united all small kingdoms that existed in India into one empire under the political advice given by Kautilya who is popularly called Chanakya, the great mentor.

He was the initiator of the great Magadha dynasty and was a major cause for the fall of Nanda dynasty. Historical sources disclose that he assisted in the army of Alexander who invaded India during that period and learnt strategies of Macedonian warfare.

His Indian Empire was considered to be extensive up to Persia. Well-structured administrative practices were implemented during the Mauryan Empire.
