1/4x+8=3/8x+6

Move +8 to the other side. Sign changes from +8 to -8.

1/4x+8-8=3/8x+6-8

1/4x=3/8x-2

Move 3/8x to the other side.

1/4x-3/8x=3/8x-3/8x-2

1/4x-3/8x=-2

Find the common denominator for 1/4x which is 8.

Multiply by 2 for 1/4x. 1(2)=2/4, 4x(2)=8x

2/8x-3/8x=-2

-1/8x=-2

Multiply both sides by -8/1 to get +x

-1/8x(-8/1)=-2(-8/1)
