Given that Mike and Lisa are brother and sister. Mike has as many brothers as sisters, and Lisa has three times as many brothers as sisters

i.e. If Mike has x sisters, then he has x brothers.

i.e. no of sons in total = x+1 (including Mike)

No of daughters = x

Lisa's brothers = x+1 and and Lisa sisters = x-1 (exclusing Lisa)

Given that


x+1 =3(x-1)\\2x =4\\x=2

Hence we find that there are 3 sons and two daughters in the family.
