The first step is to resolve the multiplications. In this case we use distributive property, multiplying each term by the other one.


-4 . (x+5) = -4x -20

We do the same on the other side of the equation:


(5)/(3) . (3x-12) = 5x - 20

Then we have:


-4x - 20 = 5x - 20

All the factors that contain X go to the left and the ones that don't have it to the right:


-4 x -5x = -20+20\\-9x = 0\\x = 0: (-9)\\x= 0
