For this case we must solve the following equation:

4^(3x) = 4 ^ 2

By definition, for the bases to be equal then the exponents must also be the same. Thus, we have to:

3x = 2

Dividing by 3 to both sides of the equation we have:

x = \frac {2} {3}

Answer:

x = \frac {2} {3}
