Some teachers teach PE(MD)(AS) in schools.

P stands for parenthesis but really is asking if I have operations in some kind of grouping symbol perform me first.

E stands for exponents.

(MD) stands for do multiplication and division as you see if left to right.

(AS) stands for do addition and subtraction as you see if left to right.

So we can skip to (MD)(AS) since there are no P parts or E parts.

There is a multiplication to perform 6(-3)=-18.

So we have:

1-6(-3)

1-(-18)

1+18
