To vertically shrink a function, the whole function needs to be multiplied by the shrink factor.

f(x) = 5x + 2 -vertical shrink by ⅖

The whole function is the 5x +2

The shrink factor if 2/5

Multiply 5x+2 by 2/5:

g(x) = 2/5(5x +2)
